Job Description

Do you have a real passion for cooking? Would love a career as a Chef? Would you like to earn whilst you learn? Well now is the time, as we have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Commis Chef to join our team in one of our prestigious sites in London. You don't need to have any experience as full training is given during the Apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

Based in one of our busy kitchens in Central London, duties would be varied. You would learn on rotation the different sections within the kitchen, gain experience with food preparation, cooking techniques and work safely within HSE guidance. You would complete the apprenticeship on day-release from site.  Once the course is completed, we would encourage the Level 3 apprenticeship to gain supervisory skills and a promotion.

 

Tasks could include, but not limited to:

  • The preparation of food,
  • Baking
  • Service
  • Stocktaking
  • Moving stock
  • Cleaning


There is no supervision of other staff.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Alongside your day to day duties, you will complete the Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship. This is a nationally recognised qualification and the primary objective of the Commis Chef is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen. You will attend college 1 day each week during term-time and will be supported through this qualification by your Personal Development Coach.  You will be visited at your place of work. All travel expenses will be covered by your employer. You are not expected to complete any of your Apprenticeship work outside of your working hours. .

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of your apprenticeship you will be encouraged to develop further, through the apprenticeship program.
