Looking to start your career within the catering industry? The Horse & Jockey in Rutland are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join their team and gain an apprenticeship qualification.

Responsibilities

While working at The Horse & Jockey you will be working as a commis chef and working towards gaining your Level 2 commis chef apprenticeship qualification delivered by HIT Training.

Your day to day duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Food preparation
  • Starting with cold food preparation / desserts moving on to more complex areas of the kitchen
  • Learning to cook all dishes on the menu
  • Basic food health & safety
  • Plating up dishes
  • Stock rotation

Our summer shift pattern is a mixture of the following: 10am-6pm straight shift, 10am-3pm/6pm-9pm same day split shift, 12 midday – 9pm straight shift, weekends included as per rota.

Future Prospects

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme there could be opportunities for development opportunities for the right candidate.

Training Provided

You will be assigned a workplace mentor and a dedicated personal tutor from HIT Training who will provide you with the relevant training to teach you a variety of key skills and knowledge to aid you with the active completion of your apprenticeship coursework and modules.
