Job Description

Learning all aspects of the business with specific emphasis on Production/CNC. Level 3 Apprenticeship.


What will the apprentice be doing?

The role will be on a 6 month rota basis spending time in each department of the business which will enable the successful apprentice a greater understanding of the business. The main emphasis will be in production and will learn all aspects of CNC machining. This will include;

  • Deburring
  • Operating
  • Setting
  • Programming

The daily contact will be with the Production Manager or whichever Department Head/Team Leader the apprentice is assigned to.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Engineering Technician Level 3 apprenticeship standard
  • Qualifications include; Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence), Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge), Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining and Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
  • College attendance will be at the Colchester Institute - Colchester Campus one days per week during term time

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Eventually, the apprentice could become part of the management team i.e. Manufacturing Engineer. This entails using solid works but in the interim would learn all aspects of the business in particular how to use a variety of CNC machines.
