We’ve got an exciting new opportunity at Amey. We’ve partnered with Coventry University to offer a Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Programme where you’ll gain an engineering degree at the same time as getting real experience on the job and working on civil engineering projects for Amey within our Consulting department.
If you’re looking for a way into civil engineering, the programme provides the perfect opportunity to kick start your career. Skills Required
- Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally
- A commitment to complete a five-year degree course whilst working
- The drive to complete the end point assessment and gain Incorporated Engineer status
Qualities Required
- Willingness to travel to Coventry University and attend one residential study block per year of 8 weeks’ duration (increasing to 11 weeks from Year 3). The university block starts each year mid-May
- Available to join the programme in Spring 2021
Qualifications Required
- Five GCSE's at grade C/4 including maths & English
- (A Levels) 112 UCAS tariff points (e.g. 2 B's and 1 C at A2) Must include maths, 'Use of maths' is not deemed a valid substitute).
- (BTEC) Obtaining a DMM (or equivalent) with at least a Merit in both maths and further maths. Acceptable courses are: Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction, and Mechanical Engineering
It is acceptable to mix and match BTECs with A-levels provided they add up to the entry requirements for A-levels.
BSc
- Five GCSE's at grade C/4 including maths.May consider D in English
And
- (A Level) 96 UCAS tariff points(e.g. 3 C's at A2). Must include maths at either A2 or AS, 'Use of maths' is deemed an acceptable substitute).
Or
- (BTEC) Obtaining a MMM (or equivalent see table) with at least a Merit in maths. Acceptable courses are: Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction, Mechanical Engineering and Building
We can look to accept an Access Diploma but must have achieved D*

Training Provided
On-the-job training
- You’ll receive mentoring and guidance from the industry experts you’ll be working closely with
- We as a business will support you every step of the way; you’ll have a manager to mentor your progress, a buddy to guide you whilst on programme and access to a dedicated Early Careers community to support you
- To support with your personal development, you’ll take part in webinars with the wider Apprentice community as well as Wellbeing events to ensure you’re getting the support you need
- A structured career route through to Incorporated Engineer status with an option to progress further to Chartered status
Off-the-job training and assessment
Off-the-job training will be provided by Coventry University. You will achieve an Institute of Civil Engineers accredited BEng or BSc (Hons) Civil Engineer qualification. You’ll study using Coventry University’s modern learning environment, and supported by our highly experienced tutors. You will have access to our comprehensive library and other fantastic student support services.
Upon completion of the degree you will undertake the ICE Assessment of Professional Competence leading to registration with the ICE as an Incorporated Engineer.
