Job Description

Our Childcare Soft Play Assistants are responsible for assisting in all areas of the play centre. You will have a mixture of duties in any day and are expected to cover and provide both childcare as well as customer service.


Duties and responsibilities will include...

  • Cleaning - Every member of staff has responsibilities for ensuring a high level of cleanliness at all times throughout the whole of Captain Ted's including toilets
  • Soft Play Assistant - Supervision of play frame and providing general help for children who may require additional assistance or indeed be unsure of play frame
  • Reception/Customer Service - Providing a high level of customer service to all customers entering and exiting the play area
  • Taking payment and keeping an accurate record of children entering/exiting Captain Ted's
  • Ensuring all adult and children are made aware of the 'rules of play' and safety issues entering play area
  • Ensuring customers are made aware of any future events taking place within Captain Ted's
  • Logging party bookings
  • Barista - Preparing and serving drinks and snacks. Processing food orders and taking them to the customers
  • Food preparation - Freshly preparing a variety of foods as customers order them
  • Parties – Hosting birthday parties including party games and face painting
  • Activity assistant – liaising with after school club and preparing craft sessions, story time and singing

Future Prospects

If successful, you will be required to work for 5 days out of 7 which is generally Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend cover. On completion of the 15 month apprenticeship program, depending on performance, you may be offered a full time role and the chance to undertake another qualification.

Reality Check

As well as the Soft Play Centre, we also provide a breakfast and after school club as well as daily classes. There is some café work and cleaning involved in this position. Whilst interacting with the children the main focus of the role, you will also be expected to provide customers with the highest level of customer service.

Qualifications Required

  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C 9-4 or above is preferred but not a necessity
  • Training will be provided
