Grove Hall Nursery are looking for a candidate who can deliver a high standard of learning, development and care to their children (aged 0-5 years). The role will include training to either the Children and Young Peoples Workforce Level 2 or Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification.

Responsibilities

The sucessful candidate will be placed in a room with a child age range most suited to and possibly preferred by them.

Day to day duties...

  • Provide the highest standards of quality care and education
  • Ensure that health and safety and security measures are constantly maintained
  • Be aware of and act in accordance with current legislations, policy and procedure
  • To contribute to a programme of activities according to children’s interests, suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
  • The preparation and completion of activities to suit according to their age
  • Washing and changing children as required
  • Providing comfort and warmth to all children
  • Providing effective supervision of the children at all times
  • To interact and engage with the children
  • Ensure good standards of hygiene and safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children
  • Work in close partnership, develop and maintain good relationship with parents
  • Develop your role within the team especially in capacity as a key worker
  • Keep children’s file up to date and complete observations

Future Prospects

Once 6 months probation has been passed, the nursery will hold a review with the learner. On completion of the initial 14 month training program, depending on performance, you may be offered a full time role and the opportunity to train to a higher level of qualification.

Reality Check

We are located in the Clapham Park area, the nearest Tube is Calpham South. We open at 7:30am and close at 6:30pm from Monday to Friday, you will work on a rota basis to cover these hours.

Skills Required

  • Empathy and understanding of children under five
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with children, staff and parents
  • To follow guidance, instruction and support given to you by colleagues/leaders
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Administrative and basic IT skills
  • Must have a full understanding of all responsibilities, roles and aspects of and within the role
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as working on own initiative

Qualifications Required

  • Candidates who are Level 2 qualified in childcare will undergo the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification
  • A good standard of English is required. GCSE's or equivalent in maths and English are preferable but not a necessity
