We are looking for an apprentice to support with day to day running of the after school provision and activities at Captain Teds providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children between the ages of 4-12 years old.


Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment
  • Provide comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to their parents or carers
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment
  • Providing refreshments and meals for the children ensuring that hygiene and health and safety standards are met
  • Administering first aid when necessary and trained
  • Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities
  • Arranging and supervising craft sessions, story time and singing in both the after school club and the soft play
  • Helping with club administration, where necessary
  • Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents and schools
  • Keeping the work environment safe and secure
  • Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures
  • Taking payment of invoices for the club
  • Cleaning - Every member of staff has responsibilities for ensuring a high level of cleanliness at all times throughout the whole of Captain Ted

Future Prospects

On completion of the 12 month apprenticeship program, depending on performance, you may be offered a full time role and the chance to undertake another qualification.

Other Information

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Qualifications Required

  • Maths and English GCSE Grade C/4 or above is preferred but not a necessity
