Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be supported by a mentor and our training provider HIT. You will grow your practical skills and attending workshops in bread, fish, patisserie, game and veg protein.
You will also attend supplier visits to really understand the concept of farm to fork!
No 2 days will be the same, and duties may include:
- Mise en place preparation for service
- Plating and food presentation
- Preparing and cooking dishes to head chef’s specification
- Working to reduce wastage
- Assisting senior members of the kitchen before and during service
- Always making sure all the areas are spotless

You will need to be a keen learner as you will have plenty of opportunities for development. We love to progress our chefs, so on competition of your apprenticeship we will strive to find you a position to help grow your career with Sodexo!
We embed a strong Safety culture in everything we do. There will be company procedures to follow, and we we will train you in the importance of understanding HACCP procedures and Food Hygiene Regulation.
Site security clearance and DBS check are required if successful for this position.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
- Level 1 Maths and English if not already achieved
