As a Commis Chef Apprentice you will prepare all food and carry out basic cooking tasks under the supervision of our Head Chef.
The primary objective of your role is to learn and understand how to carry out the basic functions in every section of the kitchen. Therefore having the opportunity to experience, consider and value each section.
Whilst the role is predominately hands-on with preparation, cooking and serving elements, you will also have to learn and understand the importance of the wider kitchen functions. With this in mind, you will study the following elements as part of your apprenticeship;
- Food Safety
The apprenticeship role is full time permanent position of approximately 30-40 hours per week. This will include your college release day and will be a mixture of days, evenings and split-shifts.
Your wage will be in excess of the minimum wage and will NOT be the apprenticeship wage.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Food Preparation and service
- Working alongside the Head Chef
- Ordering produce
Service of the kitchen is as follows:
Wednesday – Friday 17:00-22:00
This apprenticeship has the potential to turn into a permanent position or a stepping stone onto bigger things, including progression onto the advanced chef apprenticeship.

Maths and English GCSE, grade C/4 (or equivalent).
If you do not have these qualifications our team will support you to gain these skills alongside your apprenticeship.
Apprentices will be working towards achievement of the following:
- IFA Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship
- End Point Assessment
If required: Functional Skills (English, maths)
