40.0 hours per week Monday - Friday - 8.00 am - 4.30 pm. Training at a local college on day release basis.

If you enjoy using your practical ability, have good co-ordination skills, working at heights and enjoy being part of a team then a carpentry apprenticeship could be the ideal role for you. You will be working with experienced tradesmen, with valuable on-the-job experience, on a daily basis completing new and old build carpentry and joinery work.


Daily duties will include:

  • Working with wood and associated materials
  • Learning to use woodworking tools appropriately
  • Learning to produce work to a high standard
  • Measuring and cutting of wood
  • Working effectively within a team
  • Working to strict health and safety standards at all times
  • Effective time management on projects

Future Prospects

To move on to an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Reality Check

Must be prepared to start work early and work outside in all weathers.

Training Provided

Training to be provided:

  • Intermediate Level Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship Standard
  • You will build up your knowledge and skills leading towards a Diploma, NVQ qualification and Functional Skills (if required)
  • Alongside your site experience you will attend college on day-release
