Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and toileting
  • Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, help in use and care of aids and personal equipment
  • Care for service users who are temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding etc.
  • Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreation
  • Empty and clean commodes
  • Tidy rooms and light cleaning in the absence of domestics
  • Inspect and check service users’ clothing
  • Serve meals and assist service users at meal times
  • Answer emergency bells, the door and telephone and greet visitors
  • Read and write reports; take part in staff and service users meetings and in training activities as directed
  • Perform such other duties as may be reasonably required
  • Comply with the homes guidelines and policies at all times
  • Report to the Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user
  • Encourage service users to remain as independent as possible and to fully embrace and respect their right to dignity and choice

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE or equivalent in maths and English grade C/4 or above

Training Provided

Adult care worker Level 2 Standard:

  • The successful candidate will be given full on the job training alongside undertaking a Level 2 Adult Care Worker
  • Apprenticeship programme delivered through Sir Josiah Mason Trust’s dedicated training provider Interserve Learning & Employment
