There’s never been a more exciting time to join the housebuilding industry and joining Barratt as an apprentice bricklayer is your best possible first step into a growing industry. Our award-winning apprenticeship programmes are designed to give you the skills, connections and opportunities to start building a successful career.

What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be working with experienced trades people on site and contributing to our production from day 1, building 5-star quality homes for our customers. You’ll always have a senior mentor from the business who will help you with your learning and offer you career advice from someone who has been on the same journey.

You will learn many different skills, including setting out and build brickwork, including simple arches and surrounding brickwork. Cavity walling, learning how to select materials and resources to be able to set out and lay concrete, drainage and other substructure materials. Health and Safety will also be an important part of your learning.

We pay BATJIC rates starting rates are from £10,700- £16,670 dependent on age. BATJIC rates are reviewed in June of each year.

Future Prospects

You’re going to have great options once you’re finished. You could go and work for one of our sub-contractors, set yourself up as self-employed or in some areas of the country work for us permanently as a qualified tradesperson.

Some Apprentices carry on training through our Assistant Site Manager Programme or go on to do one of our Sponsored Degree Programmes.
