Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will work with experienced bricklaying trade specialists towards gaining a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification through on and off the job, trade specific training. Your day to day job will involve setting out, laying bricks and blocks to a line, incorporating openings and reveals whilst maintaining a high standard of quality.
We have vacancies nationwide - please see our careers website www.barrattcareers.co.uk for details
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
This is an 18 month Bricklayer Intermediate Apprenticeship, that’s at least 6 months quicker than other programmes. You’ll learn on the job, and during intensive residential training weeks at College. All accommodation, travel and subsistence is paid for during block weeks, starting with three weeks in college, returning home at weekends. This prepares you to fully contribute as soon as you get on site. You will return to college around every 20 weeks for a two week block of intensive training.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
You’re going to have great options once you’re finished. You could work for one of our sub-contractors, set yourself up as self-employed or in some areas of the country work for us permanently as a qualified tradesperson. Some apprentices carry on training once they have completed their apprenticeship and progress through our Assistant Site Manager Programme or go on to do one of our Degree Apprenticeship Programmes.
