Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity to take your first steps into developing your career as a Bricklaying Apprentice. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full-time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.

Responsibilities

Ideally, would suit an individual with an interest in developing their career in construction. This is a physically demanding role, so candidates will need to be fit and well and able to work in all weather conditions. 

Duties will include:

  • Adhering to health & safety
  • Assisting with general labouring
  • Setting out bricks and blocks
  • Mixing concrete and mortar as required
  • Interpreting drawings and plans
  • Laying blocks, bricks correctly and checking alignments
  • Shaping and trimming bricks by hand and power tools
  • Keeping site/workplace clean and tidy
  • Clearing up at the end of the day
  • General site work

Future Prospects

  • At the end of the apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity for continued development

Reality Check

  • The offer of a role is conditional on the ability to pass a drugs & alcohol test

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Skills Required

  • Previous work experience in the construction industry would be advantageous

Qualifications Required

  • No formal qualifications are needed, however, a CSCS Card will be required before a candidate can start on site
  • Ability to drive will be useful
