Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

You’ll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor.
Working in our Water Network Operations team, you’ll learn how to identify areas on our water network that need further investigation, locating the source of leaks and using measures to control and minimise the risk of supply interruptions for our customers. You will be required to travel across the region you are assigned to and will need to be able to drive and work alone once you are fully qualified.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Within our Leakage Operations team you will complete the Water Distribution Leakage Technician pathway within the Level 3  Water Process Technician Apprenticeship allowing you to develop the skills & experience required to become an expert Assistant Water Network Technician. You’ll combine on-the-job learning with formal, nationally recognised development training.
A Personal Development Plan will help drive your career progression, set, agreed & regularly reviewed with your line manager.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of your training, as long as you pass your end point assessment and have met your performance targets throughout your Apprenticeship, you will be offered an opportunity in a permanent role with us.
You’ll take up an Assistant Water Network Technician role in our Leakage team where you’ll get to make a real difference. 
Once you are fully qualified, your off-scheme role may require you to work shifts, drive a company van and/or work alone.

Reality Check

For this Level 3 apprenticeship, ideally candidates will already have or be on track to achieve English and Maths GCSE Grade 4 (C). If not, individuals just need to complete an additional functional skills course alongside their apprenticeship to achieve Level 2 English and Maths, delivered by the apprenticeship training provider
