We are now looking for an Apprentice Machinist for September 2019, so you could be part of our success. Following a three year Advanced Apprenticeship in Machining at the AMRC Training Centre through block study and then day release, you will join our Technical team at our Innovation Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park.

Responsibilities

We are now looking for an Apprentice Machinist for September 2019, so you could be part of our success.  Following a three year Advanced Apprenticeship in Machining at the AMRC Training Centre through block study and then day release, you will join our Technical team at our Innovation Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park. Your new role will include:

  • Programming machine tools to create precision, high value prototypes for customers
  • Producing finished and semi-finished parts to stated tolerances
  • Creating and delivering machining demonstrations to Nikken customers

In company training will also include a chance to undertake CAD/CAM work, tool setting and balancing, and machining optimisation analysis.

To be successful, you will:

  • Have a good academic track record, particularly in Maths, and ideally Engineering
  • You may even have higher qualifications in another area but are looking to move into Engineering as a career
  • Have exceptional attention to detail and a flair for thinking in 3D
  • Be hard working, with a strong desire to learn and develop
  • Be friendly, personable and able to talk confidently to a wide range of people,
  • Enjoy working in a team and strive to support team goals
  • Be well–organised and self-motivated and see this apprenticeship as the first step to a career with one of best established precision engineering product suppliers in the world

Qualifications Required

The chosen candidate must have 5 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above, or grade 4-9 under the new education grade system effective from 2016/2017.  Must include math's and English.

The chosen candidate will study towards a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) Apprenticeship
