Job Description

We have an opportunity for an apprentice accountant with previous experience to continue their development on an advanced apprenticeship, either Level 3 or 4 dependant on qualifications held. This role would suit someone who already holds a lower level AAT.

Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for an apprentice accountant with previous experience to continue their development on an advanced apprenticeship. This role would suit someone who already holds a lower level AAT or has had previous Accountancy experience including preparation of accounts to include:

  • Profit and Loss account and Balance Sheet level from base client records
  • Will also need to understand the basics of Payroll preparation
  • Duties will include preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Preparing and Submitting CIS returns
  • Preparation of basic tax computations and working as an assistant to a manager

Future Prospects

As well as ensuring full competency as an Assistant Accountant, this standard provides the foundation for progression into a number of career paths in the Accounting sector including Audit Trainee, Corporate Recovery Analyst, Credit Controller or Tax Accountant.

Reality Check

If you are already Level 3 qualified there maybe the opportunity to study for a Level 4 qualification.

Ideally this would suit someone with previous accounting experience or an existing lower Level AAT qualification

Qualifications Required

The ideal candidate will have GCSE English and maths at grade 4 or equivalent
 A level 2 or 3 AAT, or previous accountancy experience. If you are unsure get in touch.
 

Training Provided

An Assistant Accountant provides support to internal and external customers and will work predominately either as an assistant accountant within practice or alternatively within the finance function of an organisation. Part of their role will involve assisting in the day to day financial activities such as data entry to month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.
