Job Description

Great opportunity where you will be working with dogs in pack play. The successful candidate will be working towards the Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant Standard qualification.


What will the apprentice be doing?

Your day-to-day duties will include the following:

You will be working with dogs in pack play. 
You will ensure that there is fresh, clean drinking water for the dogs. and that they are fed as required.
You will be playing with the dogs, ensuring that they are stimulated.
You will be cleaning up after the dogs when needed.
You will facilitate the introduction of each dog to the pack and be aware of any signs of conflict and intervene once you are trained to do so.
You will also stroke the dogs and care for their emotional wellbeing

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training to follow the Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant apprenticeship standard, which includes Level 1/2 functional skills in maths and English (if required)
Training will be provided in the workplace through Educationwise where you will work towards a Level 2 standard apprenticeship. 

The qualification is made up of a number of mandatory units designed to have maximum relevance to the job & integrate with the day to day responsibilities. The End-Point Assessment (EPA) will be conducted by an independent assessor, which includes:

Knowledge test (30% of grading)
Personal statement & portfolio of evidence (20% of grading)
Coursework & practical end assessment 5-6 hours (50% of grading)
There will be 3 levels of Pass, Merit & Distinction
Animal Care and Welfare Assistant
Level 2 (GCSE)
