What will the apprentice be doing?
On a typical day, some of the tasks completed by apprentices are:
- Designing mechanical assemblies and electrical circuits
- Maintaining various components and engineering systems
- Working with remote handling applications
- Installation of electrical cubicles
- Assembly of mechanical structures
- Attending external outreach and careers events
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
UKAEA offer this four-year apprenticeship, where full training will be provided to become a fully qualified engineering technician. We also encourage and support you to achieve professional accreditation. Our scheme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), and on successful completion you will achieve EngTech status.
