Responsibilities
First year will be based at our local training provider undertaking key skills assessments - NVQ Level 2.
Following years will be based within the workplace on site, rotating through a series of specified placements whilst undertaking NVQ Level 3 and Functional Skills. Apprentices will also be required to attend our local college one day per week.
Advanced Craft apprentices will undertake placements across our Cheltenham manufacturing site covering areas including:
- Basic tool making
- Welding
- Multi-axis machining
- Inspection
Future Prospects
Following successful completion, apprentices may be offered a permanent position at Spirax Sarco. Furthermore, there may be opportunity to progress onto further study i.e. HNC/HND level qualification (depending on Company requirements).
Reality Check
This programme is a great opportunity for talented individuals aspiring to stay in education, whilst improving their skills, gaining work experience and getting paid at the same time. However, the programme will require a lot of hard work and dedication.
Learners will be expected to undertake qualifications and also contribute towards production from the second year onwards. Failure to complete the programme may result in failure to remain in employment.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
