Job Description

Crossroads Caring for Carers is Worcestershire’s leading charity offering practical support for family based carers and people with care needs. As a charity we care for people and work with several hundred individuals and their families. We are recruiting for 2 positions with one covering Worcester Team and one Evesham Team.


Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • To provide dignified care and support to people at their chosen times to enable them to remain living safely and independently in their own homes
  • To spend time with a person who has care needs, allowing their family based carer some respite

Depending on the person’s care needs this may include:

Personal care – physical assistance given to a person in connection with:

  • Eating or drinking
  • Toileting
  • Washing or bathing
  • Dressing
  • Care of skin
  • Oral Hygiene
  • Meal preparation
  • Prompting or administering medication
  • Assistance with mobility and transfers using specialised equipment / hoists
  • Shopping on behalf of, or with person with care needs
  • Maintaining house hygiene and cleanliness
  • Talking and listening
  • Being vigilant and reporting signs of distress or anxiety in service users; any deterioration in physical and /or mental health, or concerns about safety in their home
  • If requested, to help the person being cared for enjoy leisure recreational activities eg by trips out of the house
  • Maintain and respect confidentiality at all times

Qualifications Required

It is a requirement of employment with Crossroads as a care assistant working in the community that you have a full driving licence and access to a car that is taxed, MOT tested (if necessary) and insured in your name for business use.

Training Provided

  • We will start you on a level 2 Health & Social Care qualification to be completed in the agreed time frame
  • Functional Skills maths & English will be provided if required
