Job Description

PACE and its staff help our service users to access the community in a safe, enjoyable manner. Support Workers duties include taking groups or individual service users to specified venues and supporting them to engage in the activities whilst ensuring safety. We have a set timetable with various activities each day, as well as special days out.

Responsibilities

Any support worker employed by PACE is expected to demonstrate the following competencies in carrying out his/her duties:

  • Understand the individual needs of our Service Users
  • Understand what support requirements are needed prior to meeting the Service User so that you are prepared
  • Ensure you are able to communicate effectively with each of our Service Users
  • Recognise that our Service Users are vulnerable. Understand and be mindful of potential abuse as outlined in our safeguarding policy
  • Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse
  • Support Workers are required to make a positive contribution to and work constructively within the team
  • Continue to develop your own abilities to enhance work performance
  • Always work in a way that ensures the service delivered is in compliance with relevant legislation, PACEs values, policies, and procedures and within contractual requirements
  • Keep appropriate records of work and communications
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain health and safety and security in the workplace, including all venues you attend with our Service Users
  • Any information relating to Service Users or their family carers or other staff members must be treated with the strictest of confidence. If you have concerns about any information you have attained in the course of your duties, speak to your manager or senior staff member as soon as is reasonable
  • If you have any concerns regarding any other staff members behaviours or actions in respect of confidentiality, please contact your line manager as soon as is reasonable
  • Act at all times within PACEs Rules, Policies, Procedures, and any other statutory requirements
  • Observe health and safety procedures in the workplace to ensure personal safety and to safeguard the interests and safety of colleagues, customers, and visitors
  • Carry out or request relevant risk assessment as appropriate

Future Prospects

Possible progression onto the level 3 upon completion.

Reality Check

Car Driver would be an advantage but not essential

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in maths and English.

Training Provided

Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
