Our Ringway Infrastructure Services business in Gloucester are looking for an Accountant degree apprentice. This opportunity exists within a Finance Department that has responsibility for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and maintaining financial controls.

Overview of the role

Our Ringway Infrastructure Services business in Gloucester are looking for an Accountant degree apprentice.  This opportunity exists within a Finance Department that has responsibility for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and maintaining financial controls.

The apprenticeship will be split between residential courses at Reed Business School, and on the job learning with a Mentor in the workplace.  The apprenticeship will lead to the highly regarded ACCA qualification and a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.  Depending on prior experience and existing qualifications, the programme will be between three and five years long.     

The successful applicant will start off as an Accounts Assistant and become a Management Accountant in the long term.  Over time, responsibilities will gradually build to include:

  • Ensuring accuracy of the Profit and Loss statement
  • Forecasting and reviewing budgets, identifying the causes of any variances
  • Completing reports in accordance with set deadlines
  • Preparing reports for monthly management meetings
  • Implementing Group Management rules
  • Providing accounting advice to senior management to facilitate decision making
  • Maintaining the integrity of accounting systems and data
  • Monitoring debtor days

Reality Check

No prior knowledge is necessary, just a willingness to learn and a good work ethic.  For those with no prior experience, the programme will be five years.  For those with qualifications in related subjects, or a year or two in industry, the programme will be just under four years.

Qualifications Required

  • 3 'A' levels (or equivalent) grade A to C, one of which to be maths or a related subject
  • Or for a school leaver, a minimum of 8 GCSEs from Grades A to C, one of which to be maths (maths to be B or above)
