What will the apprentice be doing?
As the Accounts Apprentice, you will work as part of the Head Office Team, working on the transactional Finance tasks and reporting into the Financial Controller. This role will involve rotation throughout the Finance Department to gain experience from different teams, with the initial focus being on Accounts Receivable.
This role is to backfill the existing Accounts Apprentice role as the current incumbent is progressing to the next level within the team.
Your initial duties will include:
- Raising invoices to customers and other Kerridge entities.
- Maintaining the credit control inbox and responding to billing queries from customers.
- Setting up new customer accounts.
- Bank allocations.
- Direct Debit administration with the credit control team.
- Processing supplier invoices.
- Maintenance of the credit card programme.
- Other ad hoc finance tasks as required.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will gain hands on experience of a finance role, including the use of MS Excel, Outlook, Internal ERP System.
You will be completing the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard.
You will receive in house and Apprenticeship training so that you can confidently demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and behaviours by the end of your Apprenticeship:

The majority of your training will take place in the workplace. You will be required to attend Newbury College, Berkshire one day (Term Time only) a week for your Accountancy classes. If you are required to take Functional Skills English and/or Maths these classes will be in addition to your Accountancy lessons.
You will have regular reviews with your Development Coach and these will either be held remotely or at your workplace. At the end of your Apprenticeship you will be required to take an End Point Assessment to show your competency in the above Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
By the end of your Apprenticeship, you will have completed the Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard. As part of this, you will also achieve an AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2).
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
A progression path to full-time accountant with the prospect of professional qualifications.
