What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of Electromagnetic Compatibility or EMC engineer is to make sure that the products we design will work in real-life by undertaking a series of tests that show that the item being tested is not affected by emissions around it (radio waves, pulses, lightning strikes etc). They also make sure that the item under test does not emit anything that may affect the environment in a way that is unexpected or will cause problems.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As a EMC apprentice you will be working towards a Level 3 in Engineering Technician. For the duration of this 3-4 year programme you will be given one day per week in which to complete your studies with a local college. For the other 4 days you will be working in the business, applying your learning and gaining a breadth of experience across the industry.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Will become an ECM Engineer
